Note #1 From The Editor: This will be a special photo gallery of the Roosevelt Rough Riders’ very convincing victory over the visiting Eagle Rock “Eagles” in a non-conference match-up of the Eastern League taking on a Northern League opponent. The Riders took home the triumph with a final score that showed up on the scoreboard at (27-3), in their favor. They open Eastern League play on Saturday, 9/26 at 11 am, in what has been titled, the 1st annual “Coliseum GridIron Classic” as they face the Huntington Park “Spartans.” The game will obviously be played in the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are now on sale. Check for availablilty and location online by clicking here. Although it’ll be played on a neutral site, the implications are quite huge since it is the first League game for both schools.
Brief Game Recap: After a very closely contested 1st half, with the scoreboard reading, Riders 7- Eagles 3. Roosevelt began the 2nd half by wreaking defensive havoc on the Eagles offensive unit and did so for the rest of the contest, coming away with a “shut out” over the last three quarters of the game. In the end, the 2nd half was all Riders as they put up 20 points, increasing the final score to 27-3. With the win, the Riders move to an overall non-conference record of (2-2) and remained unbeaten in their home stadium, Montgomery Field.
After a review of game, MaxPreps.Com selected the following as “Players of The Game.” Congrats to: #2 WR/Justin Avila (Overall/4 recps/90 yds); #1 QB/Andrew Gallegos (Offensive/11-26/157 yds./2 TDs); #3 Ignacio Vazquez (Defensive/1 INT for TD) and #22 Angel Sanabria (Special Teams).

As we move on into the season, we realize that we must adapt to the limits of technology, therefore, in the best interest of viewing our postings, we’ve determined that due to the size and volume of photos, it would be better to create photo galleries of more than 30 pictures and place them into one posting. Thanks for your support and understanding of our production decision. Rico Cabrera, Sr./Editor, EastLASportsScene.Com
