Attention All parents, relatives, coaches, and mentors of youth players from grades 6-8, who are interested in enrolling their sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, or protégés in a growing youth football league that is specifically reaching out to members of our East L.A. community, then this message is designed with you in mind.
The Urban Youth Football league (UYFL) was founded by former 2004 USC Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL player, Matt Leinart. Now, in conjunction with our very own East L.A. and Boyle Heights native, Cesar Trillo, (Head Coach of the UYFL’s East L.A. Chapter) they are announcing a “meet, greet and sign-up” event this Saturday, December 9th. It is scheduled to take place at Salesian High school starting at 9 am. Both Leinart and Coach Trillo cordially invite all members of our community to come in for a presentation on their program. It is FREE of charge and parking may be found either on campus, or adjacent to the field.

As Coach Trillo informed us, the UYFL-East L.A. Chapter has been actively engaged in providing an opportunity to our youth, both boys and girls, since 2009. Here, they can earn recognition of their efforts to play the sport at the highest amateur level possible. It also gives our kids the chance to involve themselves in a fulfilling sports program rather than pursue other alternative activities that may not result in their best interests. To date, over 800 student-athletes from Roosevelt and Garfield High Schools have been beneficiaries of the UYFL and Matt Leinart’s humanitarian and goodwill efforts to reach out to Coach Trillo and our youth of East L.A.
In the event that you are unable to attend, please contact Coach Cesar Trillo at his email address, coachcesar.t@gmail.com, for more information on enrollment. By: Rico Cabrera, Sr./Editor, EastLASportsScene.Com
