(East Los Angeles, CA) July 26, 2022 [From The Editor’s Desk]: We now bring you our second news Update on our local teams and athletes we’ve been covering, their individual event results, their upcoming team schedules, and the scores of their recent games and matches.
[Dodgers]: On their current (7) game home-stand, they swept the long four-game series from their arch-rivals, the San Francisco Giants. Those scores were (9-6), (5-1), (4-2), and (7-4) in that order. The Sunday “getaway” game featured starter Clayton Kershaw with his (7-2) record and the two promotions of “Viva Los Dodgers” and “Kids Run The Bases” after the game. The Big Blue are currently possessors of an overall (64-30), record, after this game, good enough for 1st place in the NL Westand a (10.5) game lead over the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers next host the news making, Juan Soto, and the Washington Nationals on Monday, 7/25 for a three game series.

[Ryan Garcia Knocks Out Fortuna In 6]: On July 16th at the Crypto.com Arena, the young, local, and rising pro boxing’s Super Star out of Victorville, CA put on a gratifying show for “La Raza” and his “Gente” of all nationalities as he promised he would, when he pounded out a tremendous 6th round KO over Javier Fortuna, of the Dominican Republic. Garcia remains undefeated at (23-0) with (19) KOs.
[Sparks]: The team, with its “up and down” play, lost a road game to the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, 7/23, by the score of (84-66). Their record is now (12-15) and they are currently in 6th place in the standings. Their next home game is against the Minnesota Lynx, on Sunday, 7/31 at 7:30 pm. In spite of their below .500 season play at the 2/3 mark of the season, they can hopefully turn things around, finish with an all-healthy roster of players, and qualify for the post-season playoffs.
[LAFC]: The “Black & Gold” battled KC Sporting last Saturday, and came away with another crucial road win by the score of (2-0). Chicho Arango drove home a “golden” spike at the 56th minute. It was his team-leading 9th goal of the season. And then to add the insurance goal, newcomer, Gareth Bale, drew credit for his debut LAFC marker, a back-breaker that came at the 83rd minute, after he entered the match at the 65th marker. The Black & Gold remain in 1st place with this victory with their (14-4-3) record = (45 points). They’ll be back home at the Banc of California this Friday, July 29th to take on the Seattle Sounders.
