The Torres Toros (2-0) trailed for most of the fist half against the L.A. City Section’s Division II, Central League member, the Belmont Sentinels, (1-1) in this non-conference match-up. Belmont’s quick, and “no-huddle” offense presented some problems for the Toros defensive until they solved them by making the appropriate adjustments at halftime. The Toros went into the locker room trailing by a score of 22-12.
In this game, the Toros overall offense was once again led by an overwhelming Tiquan Gilmore rushing performance as he continued to amaze, dazzle, and leave tacklers on the field wondering, “what just happened?” and “how did I miss the tackle?”

In the second half, the Toros came alive and picked up their tempo as Coach Burnley’s offense began to mount key offensive drives for much needed scores, while at the same time, the defensive unit rose to the occasion in making several, critical “drive-killing” and “touchdown denying” plays against the Belmont offense. The Toros would still trail at the end of the and 3rd quarter by a score of 22-19, however, it was the final period of play when they outscored the Sentinels, 15-0. Both of these scores were timely executed long runs by Gilmore that sealed the victory.
