Just when you thought you’d seen everything new, here comes “Exclusive” coverage of one of the most time-tested sports of all—Professional Roller Derby—happening right here in our sports-crazy City of the Angels. Yes, Women’s Professional Roller Derby is alive and well and has been for the last decade. Come inside the “Doll Factory” of the the L.A. “Derby Dolls” Franchise, located just outside of downtown, specifically in historic Filipino Town, and see the sport up close and personal from East L.A. Sports Scene’s perspective. This match-up, or bout, as it is called in the trade, features the “Varsity Brawlers” vs. the “Fight Crew.” It is the League opener for both squads and there are over a thousand die-hard fans cheering on their favorite team. Both teams play in a four-team League sanctioned by the L.A. Derby Dolls Franchise, under the direction of the President & Co-Founder of the Derby Dolls, Rebecca Ninburg, AKA “Demolicious.” We invite you to pull up your chair, get comfortable, and get ready to enjoy the performances of a new group of female pro athletes, excelling in the sport of Professional Roller Derby.
