Recap/Game Day 4/
The Big Red, White, & Blue “Basketball Machine of Death,” aka Team USA, had no problem with the feisty Dominican Republic national team, dispatching them by a final margin of 28 points. However, it must be told that the Dominicans did manage to stay close and competitive for at least the 1st period of the contest, trailing 25-22 at the buzzer. At the start of the 2nd quarter, Team USA then went to work and dominated from that point on. The twin spark plugs on offense & defense, Kenneth Faried (16) and Anthony Davis (10), again stepped up big-time as they ignited multiple scoring runs while skying above the rim. Veteran James Harden (10), always consistent, was an intense force at play. When Stephen Curry (8) and Rudy Gay (9) began to score, the lead widened. DeMar DeRozan (11) and DeMarcus Cousins (13) both made the most of their valued minutes, posting double figures in scoring. Once again, all 12 Team USA players scored, and it was just a matter of time. With its fourth consecutive win, Team USA (4-0) secures the #1 Seed in Group “C.” Final score: USA 106 Dominican Republic 71.
