The final score was 27-14, (East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: On a beautiful sunny August summer day here in our L.A. basin, the Los Angeles Chargers sponsored its “Battle of The Bases” Flag Football Tournament at “The Bolt”, the new Home of the Chargers, showcasing teams that arrived from the military installations located here in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Kern, and San Diego counties.
Although the near-month-long heat wave was still happening in Southern California, it certainly was not going to deter the enthusiasm created by the Chargers and American Airlines sponsorship of the tournament. It was definitely still gameday and “game on” for this second annual event. Please read and learn more about this very unique event that we have spotlighted here. Los Angeles Chargers Hosted Local Military for the Annual “Battle of the Bases” Flag Football Tournament
Local Military Branches, Including Air Force, Marines, Army, Army National Guard, Space Force, and Coast Guard, Competed in the Day-long, Second Annual “Battle of the Bases” Flag Football Tournament, Presented by American Airlines.

The Chargers and American Airlines hosted a flag football tournament to bring together our nation’s service members for a day of team building and camaraderie – a well-deserved break from their demanding responsibilities and a simple expression of gratitude for their service.
The tournament featured eleven teams representing the following installations: Edwards Air Force Base, Vandenberg Space Force, U.S. Marine Corps, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Station-Miramar (2 teams), the Army National Guard, Los Angeles Space Force, Los Angeles Coast Guard, and Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach (2 teams).
Rewarding brotherhood and teamwork, the winning team won the “Grand” prize of receiving tickets to an upcoming Chargers home game and the chance to proudly boast the Championship “Battle of the Bases” belt.
The Tournament’s Pool Play Schedule began at 9:00 am, and each team played a bracketed “Round Robin” of opponents before moving on to the playoff qualifying segment of the tournament.
The Championship Final took place at 3:00 pm and featured the U.S. Marine Corps/Camp Pendleton vs. Edwards Air Force Base. The Tournament winner was Camp Pendleton, who defeated their opponent by the final score of (27-14).
