Although it may come just after the recently concluded 2023 WNBA Championship Series between the Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty, here’s some more good post-season news and it centers on the team’s Mega-Star, #30 Nneka Ogwumike. She was recently named to the 2nd Team All-WNBA for her consistent efforts during the 2023 season, based primarily on her outstanding defensive skills. But for all of her thousands of fans, they truly know, and will tell you, that the WNBA Super All-Star player packs that solid “1-2” punch to include her offensive skills as well, whenever she is fiercely competing on the court.

Nneka Ogwumike Selected to All-WNBA Team
Ogwumike Earns Second Team Honors
(LOS ANGELES, CA) – The WNBA announced on October 15th that Nneka Ogwumike has earned All-WNBA Second Team honors for the second consecutive season.

[Ogwumike was selected to the All-WNBA Team for the sixth time in her career, the fifth time being named to the All-WNBA Second Team. Ogwumike had a historic season, putting up numbers comparable to her Most Valuable Player season in 2016. She averaged 19.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Ogwumike ranked sixth in the league in all three categories and finished top six in MVP voting. In 2023, she was also named a WNBA All-Star starter, and was selected to her sixth All-WNBA Defensive Team.
“Nneka had a fantastic 2023 season and continues to add to her legacy as one of the best players in the history of the WNBA,” Head Coach Curt Miller said. “Her production during her 12th WNBA season has rarely been seen in our league, and she remains one of the most efficient players in our league. Her All-WNBA honor is well-deserved.”
Ogwumike also broke many LA Sparks and league records in 2023. She set the Sparks single-season records for both points (689) and field goals made (264). She now ranks Top 2 in franchise history in scoring, trailing just Lisa Leslie, and Top 15 in WNBA history in scoring, as well as rebounding. Defensively, Ogwumike also demolished the franchise record for career steals, with 549 total. In 2023, Ogwumike also became just the fifth player in WNBA history to record 100 career double-doubles.
