Note From The Editor:For High School footballfans, the game never stops appearing on your radar screens, or for that matter, your computer, smart phone, and TV screens. It has become a 24/7 – 365phenomenon. Therefore, at this time, we go to our East L.A. Sports Scene archived video projects and pull out a very good match-up for you to watch.
This was a 2014 Eastern League game between two very traditional and competitive teams competing in the same L.A. City Section, but are found to be in different L.A. City Schools/CIF Divisions. The South Gate Rams are in Division 2, the Roosevelt Rough Riders, in Division 1. So here we go! We hope you enjoy the excitement and the instensity of the game as captured from field level by our Lead Videographer, Erik Sarni. And we encourage you to stay with us for the post-game interviews as we had the opportunity to interview South Gate Head Coach, Jose Casagran and his players, QB/Andrew Toro, WR/Antonio Washington, and RB/James Shaw III.
2014 Season Recap: Each school made it into the playoffs with the “Rams” winning their Division 2 first-round game vs. Franklin(55-0), their second-round game vs. University(41-28) before losing in the semi-final round to eventual Division 2, and L.A. City Champion, the Western League’s Hamilton “Yankees.” That final score was (42-23). South Gate ended their season with an overall record of (8-5) and a (4-2) record in Eastern League play. On the other hand, the Roosevelt “Rough Riders” bowed out in the 1st round of the Division 1 bracket after losing to the San Pedro “Pilots” by the score of (28-7).
