And away we go with the start of League and Conference play! Friday Night Lights are shining bright in the air and now’s the time to really get behind your school, your team, and your community within East L.A. and those that lie just beyond!! These next five weeks will be full of ups and downs for all and we’ll have to rally up with fan-bases and root our teams into the playoffs. The Eastern League’s Garfield Bulldogs and the South gate Rams, both had Byes this past week. Only the Roosevelt Rough Riders saw action and were successful in recording their first win of the season in their final non-conference game for Head Coach Ricardo Zepeda. Therefore, all three teams will begin League play on Friday, 10/7/16. Hold on to your hats and buckle-up real tight. The fireworks begin with the key match-up in Game 1, when Grfield travels to South Gate. Overall Records: South Gate (3-2); Garfield (2-3); and Roosevelt (1-4). League Records: All teams are (0-0 at this time)
The Northern League posted a (2-1) record over the weekend when Torres handled their business with their first League win as they are vastly improving with each passing week. Look out for the Toros! Overall Records: Torres (4-1); Wilson (3-3);and Lincoln (3-3). League Records: Torres (1-0) Lincoln (1-0); and Wilson (0-1)
The Metro League’s, Mendez Jaguars. Just a reminder to keep in mind that this is the Jaguars first-ever varsity team and they will improve with time! Overall Record: Mendez (1-5). League Record: (0-0)
