Approaching the Half-Way Mark: For all of our usual fans, and to those who are recent viewers of our site, here’s our featured High School Football Round-Up #4/Week3. The first-half of the 2016 season is nearly over with just one more game left for most teams. Then the real season begins and hopefully, for many of our covered teams, they will be in the playoffs starting the second week of November. We’ll keep our eye on all teams, as they keep their eyes on the prize—a conference title and then hopefully, a City title. Keep supporting and rooting hard for the team, or teams, of your choice. Our three local area teams representing the CIF/SS repeated their 3-0 performances for Week 3. The Cathedral Phantoms re-engaged an old rival and defeated the Loyola Cubs on their home field. More good news.. due to this huge victory, they moved up three slots to the #20 weekly ranking in the L.A. Times poll. The Salesian Mustangs easily dispatched the visiting Eastern League’s Huntington Park Spartans by a very wide margin. And, in a very rare Friday Night Lights forfeit, the Bishop Amat Lancers, now ranked #9 in the L.A. Times poll, (up one slot from last week), took the night off and were able to rest well, heal up where it’s needed, and then gladly add the victory over the St. Paul Swordsmen to their record. Overall Records: Cathedral (4-0); Salesian (3-1); and Bishop Amat (3-1).
