In the L.A. City Section, for Week #1, our seven teams came away with an overall record of 3 wins and 4 losses. Eastern League “runner-up” from last year, the South Gate “Rams” overwhelmed its San Fernando Valley opponent on the road and posted a huge shut-out win. Garfield’s “Bulldogs” (0-2) are in the “extremely tough” part of their schedule and lost to Banning, while the Roosevelt “Roughriders” (0-2) dropped their second in a row, this week to San Pedro on their home turf.
The Northern League went 2-1 again, this time with the Wilson Mighty Mules (2-0) winning comfortably while Lincoln Tigers (1-1) snapped to attention and won easily. The Torres Toros (1-1) lost its first game.
The Metro League’s, Mendez Jaguars, faced Monroe from North Hills, located in the San Fernando Valley and fell to (0-2). Keep in mind, this is their first season of varsity football.
