Friday Night Lights are here once more, as one of the most welcomed and beloved Fall traditions of High School football takes center stage in our vast East L.A. and Beyond communities for the start of the 2016 season. This season we will once again provide all of our viewers with the results of each game, (10 in all), and we’ll also provide a photo gallery whenever we can coordinate it with the school’s photographers.
In addition, we will also provide you with the link to each school so you can go directly to their page and view their schedules, rosters, standings, and content, many times with short videos on several of the school’s players. Just a quick “Heads Up”….you may have to register with Maxpreps.Com to see this feature. Rico Cabrera, Sr./Editor, EastLASportsScene.Com
Note #1 From The Editor: In the L.A. City Section, for Week #1, the bulk of games are scheduled for this Thursday, 9/1/16. In the CIF/SS, Cathedral, Salesian, and Bishop Amat all play on Friday, 9/2/16.
Here are the results from Week Zero: Fri. 8/26/16 & Sat. 8/27/16:
L.A. City Schools: Unfortuantely, all three of our Eastern League teams went down in defeat in the season’s opening weekend. All three will face strong opponents again this week. The Northern League went 2-1 with Wilson winning big, The nice surprise of the Northern League was the convincing victory of the Torres “Toros.” Lincoln struggled on offense and was shut out. Mendez, now a member of the Metro League/Division III, will face a long and tough road since this is their inaugural season of varsity football. Their offense managed to score only a field goal in this away game.
