(Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: The Roosevelt Rough Riders made it eight straight wins in a row on Oct.15th, when they easily won by a score of (40-7) over the Bell Eagles. One of the few remaining undefeated teams in the CIF/L.A. City Section (CIF/LACS), the Riders, under Head Coach Aldo Parral, took care of their business with a (28-7) half-time lead and never looked back.
The Riders took this contest with Bell all in stride, and in strict preparation for the Eastern League’s potential title game showdown with arch-rival, the Garfield Bulldogs, also undefeated at (4-0) in league play. The South Gate Rams are in third with a (3-1) record. The “Battle For East L.A.” will all come together in the “East L.A. Classic” on Friday, Oct. 21st.

Head Coach Aldo Parral, now in his 6th season at the controls, certainly has his team peaking just in time for the annual “East L.A.Classic” rivalry clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This is a huge departure from the norm and game tradition in that the game is usually played at Weingart Stadium on the campus of East Los Angeles College (ELAC).
What prompted this venue change was the intervention, and then ultimate collaboration of the Boyle Heights-raised and universal music icon, Will.I.am and his multi Grammy Award winning group, the Black Eyed Peas, who showed their strong and deep support of Roosevelt High School, its football team, the Greater Boyle Heights and other well-known Eastside communities that comprise our City’s East Los Angeles geographical boundaries.
This game will be an historic first-ever event on the high school football level in the format it is being presented in, with the World-Class musical group that originated right here in Boyle Heights with its founder and creator, Will.I.am and the Black Eyed Peas, performing at the World Class Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
