Attention High School Football Fans! Update: The Final Score is now in. Cathedral 58 Salesian 20. Thanks to all of our viewers who took the time to vote in our first-ever Game Day Fan-Poll. The Poll results favored the Cathedral “Phantoms” by a margin of 56% to 44% for the Salesian “Mustangs.” Thanks again for your vote!
Editor’s Note: This rivalry game has not been played in fourteen years, but thanks to the CIF/SS re-alignment of schools for the 2014-15 season, both are now members of the Angelus League and it marks the opening league game for each school. If you are a current student, alumni, faculty, or supporter of either school, we ask you to step up and participate by sending in your comments via Email to: rico.p.cabrera@eastlass.com. The importance of this re-established rivalry coming back to our community cannot be stressed enough! We will be watching and cheering both teams on! Rico Cabrera, Sr./ELASS.COM

“Featured Game of the Week,” 10/11/14
Salesian “Mustangs” (2-3) Overall vs. Cathedral “Phantoms” (5-0) Overall
Background: The Salesian “Mustangs” will be the Home team in this game, which will be played on a neutral site at L.A. Southwest College. This will be a very highly-watched, and hopefully, a very competitive game that lives up to its storied annual rivalries from the past. And with the passage of so much time in between, it seems as though that last game was played almost a generation ago. The Cathedral “Phantoms” bring an unblemished non-league record of (5-0) into the game, while Salesian comes in at (2-3). Both schools played a very good, but tough, non-conference schedule, and as football seasons go, what matters most is the Present, winning League, and then going to the“Playoffs.” Both teams can now chalk everything else up to “Lessons Learned” and focus on their first Angelus League opponent. Gates open at 1:45 pm. Ticket info: $12.00/General Admission; $8.00/Students with Valid School ID; $5.00/Children 8 or under; Parking $5.00. Pre-Sale Tickets at Cathedral High School’s front office, Tuesday – Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cash only. Tickets also on sale at Salesian High, but check their website for more details. Game Location: L.A. Southwest College, 1600 W. Imperial Hwy, West Athens, CA 90047.
