“We Are L.A. Strong!”

(East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: In continuation of “Read Across America Day” and in celebration of National Reading Month, as part of the Los Angeles Rams literacy program, Rams Cheerleaders, mascot Rampage, and staff members visited classrooms and conducted their learning/reading sessions with more than 550 first through third-grade students throughout the month of March. Essential to their visit, the students were read the team’s highly popular children’s book, Ride with Rampage.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March is designated as National Reading Month – a month to motivate Americans of all ages to read every day.

The outreach events were scheduled for the following dates and took place at the following schools with their Principals in attendance. The events impacted a total of 550 students:

#1) On 3/7 – 92nd Street Elementary S.T.E.A.M. Academy, Los Angeles ,Hugh Ryan, Principal

#2) On 3/11 – Valencia Academy of Arts, Pico Rivera, Tarcio Vinicio Lara, Principal 

#3) On 3/13 – 20th Street Elementary School, Los Angeles 

#4) On 3/21 – Madison Elementary, South Gate, Luis Baez, Principal

5) On 3/25 – Lang Ranch Elementary, Thousand Oaks, Megan Triplett, Principal    &

6) On 3/27 – Canoga Park Elementary (which became a Rams Staff Day of Service), Canoga Park, Sandra Quintanilla, Principal

Ride with Rampage is a key component of the Rams Readers program, which encourages students to explore the excitement that reading can provide while helping improve literacy rates among students throughout Los Angeles. At all six schools, each student received their own copy of the book and a Rams bookmark to take home.

For background purposes, the Rams kicked off the Rams Readers literacy program and released Ride with Rampage in 2022 and since launching the program, have visited more than 90 schools and distributed over 17,000 copies of this children’s book to first through third-grade students in the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
