* May 16th, Saturday, Eastside Mural Ride, 10:00 am (Completed)*
Los Angeles was once known as the mural capital of the world. Join us in honoring and celebrating that spirit as we take you on a ride through the streets of Boyle Heights and East LA. We’ll be visiting murals throughout both neighborhoods that reflect the unique spirit and communities that live in our neighborhoods.
This is a slow-medium pace – family friendly bike ride. There will have plenty of pit stops and rest breaks throughout the route. Chances are it’s going to be a hot day, so please be prepared with a water bottle/canteen, sun screen, comfortable clothes etc.
Make sure your bicycle is in working condition. This will be an 11 mile ride with some hills, so be prepared. Carry extra bicycle inner tubes for your bike along with any tools you might need. With a group this large, it is impossible for us to have every kind of inner tube or tools to help with issues on everyones bicycle. There will be ride marshals to help riders, but safety is our number one priority. If you are causing a danger to other individuals during the ride, you will be asked to leave. For more Mural Ride details, go to their Facebook account, Eastside Mural Ride.
Meet Up Spot: La Concha Community Space; Meet Up Time: 10:00 am; Ride Out Time: 10:30 am; End Location: TBA. Mural Ride Sponsors: Multicultural Communities for Mobility; Bikesanas del Valle; Eastside Bike Club; Los Ryderz; East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice; East LA Community Corporation; Ovarian Psyco-Cycles; and Comida No Bombas Los Angeles.
