(East Los Angeles, CA) February 28, 2022 [From The Editor’s Desk]: The much-expected day, Wednesday, February 23, 2022, finally arrived for the 3 x WNBA & World Champions, L.A. Sparks and our City of Angels to welcome with loving arms, their newest Mega Star-Athlete, Liz Cambage. It all took place when the Crypto.Com Arena’s Star Plaza was transformed into the biggest stage for the official presentation to the more than 100 local, regional, national, and global media outlets gathered, (both In-person and via Zoom), to “Meet & Greet” the 4 x WNBA All-Star, the former Las Vegas Ace, and now L.A. Sparks Center. She, and the team’s General Manager, Head Coach, Derek Fisher, were paired together at the official Welcoming Press Conference. When it concluded, the entire Sparks’ fan-base was left with highly ambitious and realistic thoughts of yet another WNBA World Championship Title coming to the “Best” Title Town on earth, Los Angeles.
The 12:00 noon start-time, although slightly delayed, was very well-spent with plenty of photo opps inside of Crypto.Com Arena. The event was programmed for nearly an hour as the tall, talented, and stunning Cambage, literally took center stage for her opening remarks. She and GM/Coach Fisher then took part in a healthy Question & Answer session that covered a vast array of situations…from her Rookie season at the age of 19, when she played with the Tulsa Shock, to her five year departure from the Association, to her strong comeback in Vegas, and finally, on her long-awaited professional basketball dream and passion of becoming an L.A. Sparks franchise player. What was refreshing to see in a player of her stature was her contagious smile, her effervescence of joy, candor, congeniality, seriousness, and her honesty in answering all of the reporters’ questions to her best abilities.

A few more of Cambage’s accolades in the WNBA have been her selections to the WNBA’s All-Rookie Team (2011), All-WNBA First Team, (2018), All-WNBA Second Team (2019), and the WNBA’s Leading Scorer in (2018).
We’re looking forward to covering the Sparks in their bid on becoming WNBA Champions for the fourth time in team history. Follow the team during the season here on EastLASportsScene.Com.
