(East Los Angeles, CA) The LAFC continued to add to their current win streak now at six, with their recent and quite dominant defeat of the Charlotte FC in their first-ever match-up. After a scoreless, but probing first half, the Black & Gold ratcheted up their scoring machine and treated their “sold-out” crowd to a fan’s delight of seeing five balls make it into the visitors net. Four goals came by way of Jesus Murillo, El Capitán, Carlos Vela, José Cifuentes, and Cristian “Chicho” Arango. The fifth score came on an auto/or/self goal by a Charlotte player.
The Murillo goal at the 49th minute basically won the match as the Black & Gold defense never allowed the Charlotte offense to get untracked for much of the 90+ minutes it took to complete the match. It would be accurate to say that LAFC was in control of the match from the opening whistle at kick-off to the Referee’s final match-ending blast.
