LAFC Win Streak At Six & Still Counting

By Rico Cabrera, Sr. Aug 15, 2022

(East Los Angeles, CA) The LAFC continued to add to their current win streak now at six, with their recent and quite dominant defeat of the Charlotte FC in their first-ever match-up. After a scoreless, but probing first half, the Black & Gold ratcheted up their scoring machine and treated their “sold-out” crowd to a fan’s delight of seeing five balls make it into the visitors net. Four goals came by way of Jesus Murillo, El Capitán, Carlos Vela, José Cifuentes, and Cristian “Chicho” Arango. The fifth score came on an auto/or/self goal by a Charlotte player.

The Murillo goal at the 49th minute basically won the match as the Black & Gold defense never allowed the Charlotte offense to get untracked for much of the 90+ minutes it took to complete the match. It would be accurate to say that LAFC was in control of the match from the opening whistle at kick-off to the Referee’s final match-ending blast.

It was a perfect Saturday summer night in our City of the Angels for MLS soccer, and the LAFC’s Banc of California crowd showed its multi-dimensional fan characteristics, from the match-long percussive, chanting, organized, and well-seasoned Grupo 3252, plus hundreds more of its members seated in the North end, to the many other layers of fans who gather for each game, faithfully and supportively for its MLS and Western Conference leading team, the Black & Gold of the Los Angeles Football Club. You simply have to attend a match to see how high your fan-support and enjoyment meter can climb.

[Next Up]: D.C. United, Tuesday, August 16th. They come into this match with an overall record of (6-14-4) for 14th and last place in the Eastern Conference. To watch on TV: go to KCOP 13 and Estrella TV. To listen on radio go to ESPN 710 AM, the ESPN LA App, and 980 AM La Mera La Mera
