LAFC UNVEILS NEW 2023 ‘SMOKESCREEN’ KIT
Ford Motor Company Elevates Partnership Adding Its Iconic Logo To The Sleeve Of The First Team’s Home And Away Kits
The 2022 MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) unveiled the Club’s new ‘Smokescreen’ away kit for the 2023-24 season. Authentic and replica ‘Smokescreen’ jerseys are available to purchase online at adidas.com and mlsstore.com.
LAFC Smokescreen Kit Fans were invited to join LAFC on Pepsi Plaza at BMO Stadium Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM PT for the official 2023 ‘Smokescreen’ kit launch presented by FLEX Power Tools. This was the first in-person opportunity for fans to view, purchase and customize the brand-new jersey.
Ford Motor Company, the Official Domestic Automobile Partner, joins the top tier of LAFC’s brand partnerships – The Golden Boot Club. The enhanced partnership now includes a prominent position for Ford on the right sleeve of the First Team home and away authentic jerseys.
With details that celebrate Club and community, the ‘Smokescreen’ kit features a smoke design rising up across the body of the jersey – a homage to the iconic LAFC Supporters’ goal celebration at BMO Stadium.
The kit introduces a new colorway into the Club’s iconic look, featuring adidas “tent green” color as the base of the jersey. The Club’s monogram with the new championship star replaces the traditional crest on the left chest panel of the top with primary kit sponsor FLEX Power Tools centered on the torso. The jock tag adds a special touch celebrating the team’s global aspirations and away days culture.
In keeping consistent with the kits that came before it, the neck tape inside reads: Shoulder to Shoulder, a rally cry to unite supporters and a reference to building the Club together through community and city partners.
As part of the 2023 Smokescreen Kit Launch presented by FLEX Power Tools, all fans in attendance at the free event enjoyed music, food and drink options, an interactive away days map and the opportunity to shop LAFC’s newest gear for the 2023 season. Fans who purchased an authentic or replica Smokescreen jersey took home a free limited-edition gift with purchase and had the opportunity to visit The FLEX Zone photo booth where they had a commemorative photo taken in the Smokescreen set with the MLS Cup trophy.
Following the Kit Launch event, LAFC hosted the San Diego Loyal at BMO Stadium in the team’s final preseason friendly. LAFC kicks off the defense of its title when they open the 2023 MLS Regular Season against the LA Galaxy on Saturday, February 25 at Rose Bowl Stadium at 6:30 PM PT.
Ford Motor Company, originally formed its partnership with the Club in 2020 and alongside the Black & Gold have served the community through numerous initiatives including PPE kit distribution during the peak of the pandemic and hosted an annual vehicle give away to LAFC Season Ticket Members over the last two seasons. In 2023 the enhanced partnership includes presenting partnership of LAFC’s annual Season of Giving and elevated touchpoints with fans at Fan Fest and in-stadium vehicle display.
