(East Los Angeles, CA) March 4, 2021 (From The Editor’s Desk): The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is all set to officially open its 2021 pre-season training camp on Monday, March 8th at Cal State L.A.’s Performance Center. The MLS opens its new season on April 17th.
The Black & Gold enters its fourth season in MLS after reaching the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the third consecutive year in 2020. Since 2018, LAFC leads the League in total regular season wins (46) and points (161). The Club became the first-ever MLS team to defeat three Liga MX teams in the “knockout” stages of the CONCACAF Champions League en route to an appearance in the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Final.

LAFC’s roster is currently comprised of 26 signed players, including three goalkeepers, ten defenders, seven midfielders, and six forwards. This past offseason, the Club acquired five new players: goalkeeper Tomas Romero, defenders Marco Farfan (a potential selection to U.S. Soccer Men’s National U-23 Team), Kim Moon-Hwan, midfielder Raheem Edwards, and forward Corey Baird. LAFC also announced that all three 2021 MLS SuperDraft selections have been invited to the start of camp.
The Team’s and MLS’ group of highly-recognized and most-zealous fans, Grupo 3252, is quietly, but anxiously awaiting the League’s decision on allowing limited numbers of fans to participate in their great fan experience at Banc of California Stadium this season.
In 1987, the month of March was designated by our U.S. Congress as National Women’s History Month. In observance, and commemoration, a “must see” is the Club’s compelling video tribute set to the late, and world renown, African-American poet, Maya Angelou, and her powerful poem, “Still I Rise.” The narration is by Mia Hamm, former 17 year veteran of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, a 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, a 2 x FIFA World Cup Champion, a 4 x NCAA Champion and a current LAFC team owner.
