(East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: The LAFC Black & Gold lost their first pre-season match against D.C. United by the score of (2-1) last Monday, 2/6. Now is that precise time to take a good and measured look at how the team’s training has helped to get all the players into the right physical shape and into their comfort zones out on the pitch, and then playing their next full match for Head Coach Steve Cherundolo and his Coaching Staff to analyze and evaluate the performances.

LAFC FALLS TO D.C. UNITED 2-1
Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) fell to D.C. United 2-1 on Monday afternoon in a preseason friendly at the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif.

An intense first half with a pair of key saves from D.C. United’s goalkeeper kept the score sheet at 0-0 at the half. Denis Bouanga would deliver the opening goal in the 54th minute, after a solo run where he beat D.C. United’s keeper in a 1v1 duel. D.C. jumped back into the game, scoring the equalizer in the 68th minute and the go-ahead goal in extra time (90+3’), defeating LAFC 2-1.
[Next Match]: The Black & Gold continues preseason training ahead of the 2023 MLS Regular Season as they prepare to take on Toronto FC at the Coachella Valley Invitational. Kick-off is set for 11:00 am on Saturday, Feb. 11th, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. Saturday’s contest will feature the second and final match for LAFC at the Coachella Valley Invitational.
