(Editor’s Note: At the time of this interview, Mr. Lopez was the Center’s Executive Director. On January 6, 2014, he starts a new position in the Agency’s Central Office.) It was finally time to sit down “In-Studio” with Ozzie Lopez, the Executive Director of the Boyle Heights Technology Youth Center (BHTYC) and proud Garfield High School Alumni, (Class of ’92), and speak with him about his athletic past, his current position, and many other life situations that happened in between. Listen to Ozzie as he very candidly gives you a solid background of his Varsity football playing days at Garfield, his family’s involvement in sport, his deep affection for his Mom, and of course, telling us what he does on a daily basis as the Director of one of the most popular Community Centers in the City of Los Angeles. Continued success to Ozzie, his outstanding staff, all the students, as well as the Boyle Heights community and other surrounding East L.A. communities, for making this one of the most modern and respected “educational oasis” in our Community.
