(Boyle Heights Technology & YouthSource Center)— With the 2019 high school football season just a week away, Garfield High School Bulldogs’ Head Football Coach Lorenzo Hernandez led four of his Seniors returning for their final season, and one Junior, to our In-Studio interview which focused on the team’s preparations for the upcoming 2019 football season. Of course we took the special time to recap 2018, one of the most historic and successful season’s under Coach Hernandez’s tenure as Garfield’s Head Coach. It marked the first time in school history that the Bulldogs played in a State CIF Championship Game at the Division 4-A level.
We hope you enjoy our full production of the interviews with Head Coach Hernandez and the following players: 1st Team All-City and 1st Team All-Eastern League running back, Peter “P.J.” Garcia; 2nd Team All-City, All-Eastern League, “Quarterback of the Year,” Junior QB, Jonathan “Boomer” Bautista; 1st Team All-City/Open Division (led the City Section in sacks), All-Eastern League, Defensive Lineman, Anthony Ruvalcaba; 1st Team All-Eastern League and “Rookie Defensive Player of the Year,” Erick Anaya; and All-City Placekicker/Punter, Fabian Muñoz-Rodriguez.
