Note From The Editor: Through the power of today’s internet media, both in video and photo gallery formats, we eagerly bring to your attention a very unique success story involving two of our very own born and raised student-athletes from Boyle Heights and East L.A. Although you may not yet have heard of Andrew Vasquez and Ryan Munoz, we promise that you will know who they are after watching our presentation. Again, a reminder that you can see our In-studio interview here and then go to our photo gallery for additional coverage.
In our efforts to highlight these two young and outstanding football players from Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, CA, we hope to make you more aware of their amazing success as front-line players and First Team All Mission Leaguestandouts for this highly-ranked CIF Southern Section school.
Our story-board reads something like this… we zoom in on two young, fun-loving, and all sports-minded Chicano kids who grew up in the barrios of Boyle Heights and East L.A. They both set their academic and athletic goals very high, and their dreams just as grand. Their life journey as youngsters took them down the path of several sports, but in the end, it was the passion they felt for football that convinced them to further their athletic careers playing under those special “Friday Night Lights.“ They’ve maintained their strong friendship which was forged as childhood friends, and to this day, they remain as close as brothers. But now, as teenagers, they’re a little older and have matured into exceptional, highly-regarded, and award-winning football players for one of Southern California’s parochial powerhouses, the Bishop Amat “Lancers.” We hope you enjoy our interview with these two young role models for our youth and our community of East Los Angeles. Please like, share with your social media networks of friends, family, associates, and then please send us your comments. Thanks in advance!
