DODGERS FOUNDATION RUN PRESENTED BY UCLA HEALTH RETURNS TO DODGER STADIUM THIS SATURDAY
Los Angeles – The 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Sunset Run presented by UCLA Health will return to Dodger Stadium this Saturday, August 14th, for an evening run at 7:10 p.m. With “Live” and “Virtual” running options, the sunset, sold-out event will host 4,500 runners on-site and feature a new 5K course within the stadium property and finish line at the new Centerfield Plaza.
Nichol Whiteman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), L.A. Dodgers Foundation (LADF), had this to say about the popular event, “For the past year and a half, we have been separated from friends and family as we worked to reduce the spread of COVID-19. With firm practices in place to keep runners safe, we are thrilled to reconnect and raise funds to support the most vulnerable Angelenos, many of whom endured the physical, emotional, and financial devastation that disproportionately impacted communities that were already struggling.”
Presenting Sponsor, UCLA Health, will have a significant presence at the race and in the Health + Wellness Expo, offering giveaways to all attendees. Nurses will be available to provide nutrition information for runners, sunscreen samples will be provided by their dermatology department, and UCLA Health Sports Performance powered by EXOS will provide engaging activities to further test the athleticism of all in attendance. In addition, medical professionals will be on site to provide information about COVID-19 and the importance of vaccinations.
“The opportunity to return to Dodger Stadium for this signature event is remarkable,” said Dr. Medell Briggs-Malonson, Chief, Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at UCLA Health. “It is so important that we support our local community with education and resources for improved health and wellness – a key part of UCLA Health’s mission. To be able to do that with this race and expo is a wonderful opportunity and we are so happy to be here.”
Levelwear and Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (DWP) join as Weekend Sponsors. Also joining the weekend’s events and Health + Wellness Expo in the new Centerfield Plaza are: A3M Hope, Generic Events, Handy Randy’s Plumbing Specialists, Medic Up Consulting, U.S. Marine Corps, and more.
For runner safety, the event will follow all Center For Disease Control (CDC) federal and local county guidelines as well as utilize wave starts and encourage social distancing in expanded corrals. There will be no water stations along the course route but runners and spectators are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. There will be a FREE fill-up station provided by DWP within the Expo for the duration of the event. At the finish line, all runners will receive a water bottle courtesy of Dasani, and fresh fruit courtesy of Melissa’s Produce.
In addition, all registered participants at least (21) years of age, with valid ID, can celebrate crossing the finish line with a complimentary beer from Michelob Ultra!
