(East Los Angeles, CA) April 18, 2022 [From The Editor’s Desk]: The Dodgers are off to a great start as they have returned home to their City and fans awaiting them with outstretched arms, while compiling a (7-2) record in the process. Their first five games were on the road, and they are now currently owners of a (6) game winning streak, after sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in the first four games of their first homestand marking the 60th Anniversary of playing in Dodger Stadium.

A quick look-back to the season’s “Opening Day,” 4/8, on the road and up to the present, will bring us all up to speed. They opened with the Colorado Rockies, winning the first, then losing the last two. They then traveled to Minnesota for a two-game set with Twins, where they swept. They arrived home on 4/14 to host their first Home-stand and faced the Cincinnati Reds in a four-game set, and very convincingly swept them as well.
This opening home stand was particularly important as each game had its own theme and purpose, highlighted by Friday’s April 15th Salute and Tribute to Jackie Robinson, on his Special commemorative day that was acknowledged throughout Major League Baseball, and not only at Dodger Stadium, but in several other locations here in the City and County. The day was accented by the Dodgers defeating the Reds in that game by a score of (3-1). The Dodgers went on to sweep Cincinnati and notched their 6th straight win while moving their record to an impressive (7-2), good enough to be tied with the San Francisco Giants for the NL West’s first-place spot.
Playing superb baseball were the usual “game-to-game” veterans of the team, Betts, J.Turner, Bellinger, Taylor, Muncy, T. Turner, Smith, and Lux in tandem with stand-out newcomer, Freeman. Add on the outstanding rotation of the pitching staff of starters Buehler, Urías, Kershaw, Gonsolin, Heaney and the relieving corps of Kimbrel, Treinen, Anderson, Hudson, Price and there you have the start of the season and what will hopefully become a Blue-print for success!
Tonight, 4/18, they started a 3-game series with the World Series Champions, Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers welcome back as another opposing player, and their former All-Star and closer, Kenley Jansen. In contrast, the teams’ high profile player exchange in the off-season will show 1B/Freddie Freeman proudly wearing Dodgers colors in their White home uniforms.
This should be a very good match-up between two of baseball’s top teams. On Tuesday, 4/19, the teams will play on the Dodgers newest special event-themed “Taco Tuesday Night, #1.” They finish the series on Wednesday, before hitting the road against the San Diego Padres for a three-game weekend set, starting on Friday, 4/22. They’ll finish their second road trip with another three-game set vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks, from 4/25, 4/26, & 4/27. The team returns home on 4/29, 4/30, & 5/1 to face the Detroit Tigers in a 3 game series.
