The Los Angeles Dodgers have just gigantically bolstered their “Opening Day” roster and improved their chances of strongly competing for a return trip to the World Series, with their acquisition of local and native son, Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers front-office executive team pulled it all together for them to sign the highly-valued and sought-after, Freeman, to a much-deserved contract based in large part on his success as an Atlanta Brave, and more specifically for his outstanding play against the Dodgers in the National League’s Championship Divisional Series, and his ultimate performance in last year’s World Series against the Houston Astros. And now, and very soon, we’ll all get a very good “close-up” look at what his play as a Dodger will do for the franchise.
{Freddie’s Amazing Numbers} The 32 year-old, 6-5, left-handed batter, right-handed thrower, 1st baseman, graduate of El Modena HS, and a Villa Park, CA native, was signed to a 6-year, $162 million contract. In last year’s six World Series games, he batted (.318) in 22 at-bats, with 7 hits, 2 homers, 2 runs, 1 doubles, 2 home runs, 2 walks, and 5 strike-outs. Career-wise, he is a (.295) average hitter with 1,704 hits, 5,767 at-bats, 271 home runs, 941 RBIs, 53 stolen bases, and a (.384) on-base percentage. He is also a 5 x All-Star selection.
