Note From The Editor: The Garfield “Bulldogs” defeated their longtime rivals, the Roosevelt “Rough Riders” in this classic confrontation for the 2014 Eastern League Baseball Championship. A packed house filled the stands in East L.A. College’s beautiful, and State-of-the-Art baseball stadium, for this title game on a very warm Spring evening. Come along and watch our coverage as both teams came into the contest with identical Eastern League records of 7-2. Roosevelt defeated Garfield in the 1st round game, played on April 22nd, by a score of 2-1. The pitching match-ups in this title deciding game featured RHS’ #14 Luis Zamudio, a left-handed Senior, going against, GHS’ #9 Sergio Trejo, a right-handed Junior, who went six innings in the first encounter. Roosevelt’s Head Coach is Ray Ruiz while Garfield’s is Ruben Torres. Needless to say, playoff berths for both schools were riding on the outcome of the final regular season game. Playoffs were scheduled to begin on May 21st. We hope you enjoy, as well as appreciate, our production of the “East L.A. Classic” — this time—in the sport of Baseball.
