(East Los Angeles, CA) June 13, 2021 [From The Editor’s Desk]: The Clippers played Clippers 2021 Playoff basketball as they drew closer to the Utah Jazz in the series win column, racking up a huge “blow-out” victory, (132-106) in their Round 2, nationally televised game on the ABC Network. Similar to their 1st round (4-3) win margin over the Dallas Mavericks, where the road teams each won three, this series could be the reverse and a streaky one as the Jazz won their first 2 home games and the Clippers returned the favor, at least in this first of two, by winning at Staples Center in front of an enthusiastic and boisterous crowd of 8,185 hungry for playoff wins, fans.

As much analyzing that goes on for each and every NBA contest, playoff or otherwise, the sport of basketball remains one in whichever team has the better shooting touch on that particular day or night, can turn it into a win. Of course we can’t forget to add some good defense to that winning formula, some good luck, and a prolific home crowd cheering for 48 consecutive minutes. And, now take into account the start time, and this one certainly favored the Clippers as it was tipped off at 5:30 pm (PT), giving its players and fans an early evening start time, while allowing the country’s loyal NBA fans more comfort in viewing these two Western Conference teams at a very reasonable dinner-hour time of the day.
(Game Summary): The Clippers “1-2 punch” was increased by one more as the veteran, #1 Reggie Jackson, answered Head Coach Ty Lue’s call to become a starter. It paid off in big dividends as he joined his Mega-Star teammates, #2 Kawhi Leonard (34 pts/12 rebs/Dbl-Dbl) and #13 Paul “PG” George (31 pts/6-10 3 ptrs/5 assists) in the critical points and game stat categories. The three combined for a total of (82). Jackson dropped in 17 points on 5 0f 6 in 3-pt shooting. Add in the great work put in by the twelve year veteran, Nicolas Batum, who also had 17, and that was the game winning difference for the Clips.

It must be noted that after trailing by as much as 18, the Jazz did threaten to make a big comeback run late in the 4th quarter. But, they fell short when their young franchise, Super Star, Donovan Mitchell, who finished with 30 points, came up limping after a drive “in traffic” to the basket. He hobbled off the court and into the locker room, but managed to return to the bench. Then, after consulting with his team trainers and medical support staff, Head Coach Quin Snyder decided not to risk any further injury and kept him from returning.
(FINAL SCORE): Clippers 132 Jazz 106
(Next Game): Round 2 Playoff game #4 will be played on Monday, June 14th, at 7:00 pm (PT), and will be carried on national TV by TNT. It can also be heard on local radio station KEIB, 1150 AM.
