(East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: This past Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers played their longtime AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, at Arrowhead Stadium. To make it more important, and to keep it in alignment with the NFL’s outstanding program and initiative of “My Cause, My Cleats,” the recognition for non-profit agencies of the player’s preference, the team’s designated players wore their specific shoes dedicated to the particular cause of each player.

Here is the Team’s press statement that will shed more light on the Chargers’ commitments and intentions for the NFL’s outstanding initiative.

Los Angeles Chargers Spotlight Personal Causes Through NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats Initiative

QB Justin Herbert, Kicker Cameron Dicker, Center Bradley Bozeman, and Defensive Lineman Morgan Fox headline Chargers players who’ve had custom cleats created, dawning causes personal to them throughout the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats Initiative weekends.

The Los Angeles Chargers players used the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats initiative to highlight causes close to their hearts during key matchups, including their recent game against the Atlanta Falcons and their recent Sunday Night Football clash with division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, on December 8th.

Quarterback Justin Herbert, kicker Cameron Dicker, center Bradley Bozeman, and defensive lineman Morgan Fox were among the ten players showcasing custom cleats. As a three-time “Salute to Service” nominee, Fox highlights his support for military appreciation, while Herbert’s cleats shine a light on pediatric cancer awareness.

The Chargers 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, kicker Cameron Dicker, is bringing awareness to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, while linebacker Bud Dupree joins the initiative by advocating for youth sports through his Snoop & Housh Flag Football custom design. Center Bradley Bozeman, who is passionate about helping local youth within his community, will be playing for his foundation, The Bradley and Nikki Bozeman Foundation.

Since the My Cause, My Cleats campaign launched in 2016, Chargers players have consistently brought attention to local, national, and global causes, leveraging gameday to shine a light on topics that matter most. From addressing social injustice and supporting mental health to advocating for cancer research, education, and military support, the initiative unites the NFL community around meaningful change.

Fans were able to catch the Chargers in their custom cleats last Sunday night as they took on the Kansas City Chiefs, amplifying awareness for these important causes during one of the NFL’s marquee matchups.

Below is the list of participating players:

This year, the Bolts partnered with San Pedro native and award-winning artist Wally Champ, whose design pieces have been showcased across the NFL, NBA, and MMA, to help create many of the custom-designed cleats.

Following the game, players auctioned their cleats at the NFL Auction, where 100 percent of the funds raised were donated to their respective causes. Fans were able to bid on these cleats at NFL.com/Auction.

Here are statements from Herbert, Dicker, Fox, and Dupree.

[QB Justin Herbert – Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation]
“The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is an incredible non-profit whose goal is to accelerate new cures for pediatric cancers. PCRF helps guide and care for children who are currently going through treatment as well as those who have been impacted by family members going through treatment. I can never imagine a world where I wasn’t playing and running around with my brothers as a young kid and to know – and often meet – children who have to carry such a bigger burden than I could ever imagine day in and day out – and to do with a smile on their face – it’s inspiring. I hope I can bring a smile to a few faces when they see my cleats showcasing their cause and know I’m fighting for them too.”

[Kicker, Cameron Dicker – Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy]
“I got the chance to learn about Muscular Dystrophy during training camp when I met Henry Wat and his dad. Henry and his dad shared Henry’s story, and I knew, at that moment, that I wanted to help. To know there are children who come watch us and cheer for us who are going through so much – it’s just something that when you see it, it hits you and brings you back to reality. Having met him, and heard his story, it’s cool to represent him out there on the field during My Cause My Cleats and support him in the same way that he supports us. It’s just a chance for me to show the love that we have for him for coming out and supporting us all this time.”

[Linebacker, Morgan Fox – Wounded Warrior Foundation]
“The Wounded Warrior Project, which helps both veterans and active-duty service members, has played such a big role in mine and my family’s life, and I wanted to show my support and appreciation of that through this year’s My Cause My Cleats initiative. I try to focus a lot of my time off the field on military appreciation since it was such a big part of my life, and you never know when or what will impact a person’s life. It was pretty cool getting to wear these during our win in Atlanta and I’m looking forward to having them on for the second week on Sunday Week Football. It’s important to bring recognition and awareness to those who serve our country both during Salute to Service and beyond.”

[Linebacker, Bud Dupree – Snoop & Housh Flag Football League]
“Both my kids play in the Snoop & Housh Flag Football League and they’re doing great work for kids in the greater LA area. The League was created to empower youth athletes and boost their self-esteem, all while learning the fundamentals of football and, more importantly, teamwork. This year, when I got to the Chargers, I really wanted to get my kids involved in local sports and have them join a team. When I found Snoop & Housh, I knew that was the place for them. With this league playing such a key role in my kids’ life this year – especially in a new city – I thought it’d be cool and beneficial to bring awareness through my cleats this year.”
