(East Los Angeles, CA) August 9, 2022 [From The Editor’s Desk]: It was a very happy Spring 2022 day that matched the very happy occasion of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers coming back out to the City of Compton, CA for an important and memorable event. The Chargers outreach team was led by Marcellus Wiley, a Compton native, a former NFL player with San Diego Chargers where he played from 2001-2003. Wiley joined forces with the team in making a huge donation of cleats and gloves to all high school football players representing the Compton Unified School District.

Student-athletes from Compton, Centennial, and Dominguez high school teams were in full team attendance, and although the event took place in mid-May, the smiles, the display of joyful emotions, and the gratitude of all players who received these priceless gifts from the Chargers, were timeless and most highly memorable. The event took place at the Caldwell Elementary School in Compton, and the meal of the day was “Pizza” chosen especially for this momentous occasion.

The Chargers are currently in week two of their 2022 Training Camp now underway at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, CA. Open practices at 2022 Chargers Training Camp are FREE of charge.
