(East Los Angeles, CA) [From The Editor’s Desk]: Here’s a very special game-day story we’d like to share with our fans and followers. It can be a very rare occasion when a significant network “Play-By-Play” game analyst brings his own pet canine to an NFL match-up.
However, on this FOX nationally televised L.A. Chargers “Thursday Night Football” (TNF) contest versus the Denver Broncos on the Week 16 schedule, a special activity was programmed with that very pet and the Chargers Pup in training.

This special occasion is closely related to the Charger’s outreach efforts for publicly promoting pet adoptions at our City of Los Angeles Animal Shelters. We also refer you to an earlier story we’ve published that will provide you with more details on Pet Adoptions if you are interested in doing so. To view that piece, please click here.
In returning to our story and the special activity that took place at the Broncos game, here’s what happened. Kirk Herbstreit, the very popular FOX Network Color Analyst, brought his own dog, named “Peter” to the game, and he was introduced to the Chargers Pup in training, “Storm” prior to the game.

The visiting “Peter” was given the title on his credential of Chief Companion Officer, and “Storm,” the Chargers Pup, was issued her credential as the Vice-Pupsident of Doggo Relations. They met on the field and exchanged gifts and sniffs. Regarding their roles in the game, “Peter” was the Director of the Pupcast, and “Storm” served as the Woof-icial in Charge of the game.

…dog lovers and football fans alike can donate to L.A. Animal Services, one of the largest municipal shelter systems in the U.S., with six shelters across L.A. county, serving approximately 60,000 animals annually. Many of the L.A. Animal Services shelters are heavily impacted by overcrowding, especially during the holiday season.
At the beginning of this month, the Chargers partnered with L.A. Animal Services for their annual and community-appealing pet adoption event (see photo below), where they found new homes for over 20 dogs.

“Storm,” now the fourth Chargers Pup since the program’s inception in 2020, is currently in her future Service training with Paws for Life at California Medical Facility – Vacaville to become a service animal for a military veteran. The Chargers Pup program has followed a service animal in training to highlight the importance of these dogs for people with disabilities.
In 2023 the Chargers partnered with Paws for Life K9 Rescue to highlight a Golden Retriever rescue, River, on her journey as a Chargers Pup as she was trained to become a service animal for a military veteran. In addition to River, the Chargers partnered with the non-profit Canine Companions to sponsor Brisket, who successfully completed his program and became a full-time facility dog for the Glendale Police Department.
