Here’s the game-day schedule for your Post-Thanksgiving Day plans to come out and support our two East Los Angeles-based teams in this historic moment that showcases them playing in two separate CIF/L.A. City Section Division Finals (Open & Division II), on the exact same day.
At 3:00 pm our #7 seed, Roosevelt Rough Riders (9-4) open the playoff schedule for the day as they take on the Locke Academy Saints (9-4), 3rd place finishers in the Coliseum League. The Riders posted victories over Verdugo Hills, L.A.-Wilson, and Canoga Park to make the Final. While Locke Academy defeated Hollywood, Arleta, and Franklin to secure their place in the Final.
At 7:00 pm, our #6 seed, Garfield Bulldogs (12-0) will take on the perennial L.A. City Section powerhouse, the #1 seeded, Narbonne Gauchos (9-3), in the Open Division Final. The Gauchos posted highly dominant victories over Venice (67-0) and Birmingham, (63-23) to reach the Final. While the Bulldogs defeated Carson (14-10), and Eagle Rock (24-21), in dramatic come-from-behind victories on their path to the Final.
On another historic note, it is a guaranteed State Playoff appearance for the Garfield Bulldogs regardless of the game’s outcome. Roosevelt can also earn itself a bid to the State Playoffs only with a victory over Locke Academy.
