Note #1 From The Editor: To all of our High School Hoops’ Fans, here’s our coverage of this season’s first Boys Varsity basketball game between two of the oldest archrivals in L.A. City Schools history, the Garfield Bulldogs and the Roosevelt Rough Riders. This game took place on January 13, 2017 in the first encounter on their Eastern League schedules. The “Dawgs,” coached by the highly respected veteran, Ricardo Rivas, entered the last contest of the first round of Eastern League play with 9-7 overall record and a 1-1 record in league play, while the “Riders,” coached by fifth-year coach, Mario Perez, came into the game with an overall record of 6-9 and a league record of 1-1.
