Game #1 Summary:The L.A. Super Regionals, hosted by UCLA, got off to a great start for the Bruins as they fought off a tough Missouri Tigers team that kept hanging in there with lots of grit and determination. But, the home team would not be denied on this occasion. Twenty-nine game winner, Ally Carda, was once again selected by Head Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez to lead the Bruins on to victory. And Carda remained true to her conviction that this a total T.E.A.M. Our editing staff took the liberty and borrowed the translation from the graphic poster designer, who soundly labeled each letter, translating it into Together Everyone Achieves More. And that’s exactly what happened in this opening game.
The scoring started with the Bruins first at-bat when they put up a single run. The Tigers came up in the third and used their long-ball hitters to drive across four runs with a couple of four-baggers and a double. The Bruins answered right back in their third inning at-bats when they rallied for three runs, all coming with two-out, to tie the score at 4-4. UCLA then scored twice in the fourth and added more insurance with a singleton in the 5th. Carda kept the Tigers scoreless for the rest of the game. She was extremely stingy and nearly unhittable, as she retired 11 out-of-13 from the fourth through the final inning. The Bruin game plan worked to perfection as they earned a 7-4victory to take Game 1.
