Game Recap From 4/19/15:The Bruins (38-8) lived up to their #8 national ranking as they swept their rivals from Northern California, the #18 ranked Cal Bears, in a weekend series. East L.A. Sports Scene was present for the finale and it was looking as though the Bruins were just going through the motions with the game tied at 2-2, until the 4th inning when shortstop, Delaney Spaulding sent the sold-out crowd at Easton Stadium into a frenzy with a 2-run homer that gave the Bruins the lead at 4-2. The Bears cut the margin to 4-3 in the 5th inning when they pushed across 1 run. However, and once again, the long-ball bat of catcher, Stephany LaRosacame alive, and for her effort was credited with one of the longest home runs of the home season when she hammered a solo, tape-measuring, monster blast well over the left-centerfield fence. With the momentum of that homer, the Bruins built up a few more insurance runs before pulling away for the final score of 8-5. With this win, the Bruins ended their weekend with a7 game winning streak.
After the game, the Bruins and the Coaching staff treated their faithful fans to an autograph session on the Easton Stadium playing field. Hundreds of young softball players from Rec. & Park leagues, travel teams, and high schools took full advantage of this great opportunity and were able to see, and briefly chat it up with, their favorite Bruin players. Our production also includes a photo gallery as well as post-game interviews with Stephany LaRosa and Head Coach, Kelly Inouye-Perez.
