(East Los Angeles, CA) September 17, 2021 [From The Editor’s Desk]: The LAFC are playing for real and for keeps. Just take a close look at their last seven matches and you’ll see that they are in sync, in rhythm, and in great team harmony. You just have to turn the pages backwards just a bit to see the bookmark in a better light. Can we recall MLS All-Star Week and the exciting 8/25 match.
Now, we must move onward and upward in the playoff hunt and of course, the MLS Western Conference’s all-important and super-critical standings. Let’s have an in-depth look at them right now.
We pretty much know the Top Tier or Top 5. They are the following teams: 1) KC Sporting; 2) Seattle Sounders; 3) Colorado Rapids; 4) L.A. Galaxy; and 5) Portland Timbers. The battle for the next tier puts these teams in the hunt for a coveted playoff berth. Those are: 6) Real Salt Lake; 7) **LAFC; 8) Minnesota United; and 9) Vancouver White Caps.
With their third win a row on Wednesday, LAFC appears to be on track to reach the playoffs in this last (10) match stretch of the schedule. Question is, what spot in the standings will they finish in? Mr. Momentum has never been so consistent and friendly to the Black & Gold. Can we all imagine if El Capitán, Carlos Vela, can find a way to make his return to the team in the timeliest of moments.

LAFC WINS THIRD STRAIGHT WITH 2-1 WIN OVER AUSTIN
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) won its third straight match on Wednesday night, 9/15/21, using a late goal from Forward, Danny Musovski, in the 81st minute to pull out the victory. The Black & Gold are in the midst of a four-game unbeaten run and now have (33) points and a (9-9-6/W-L-T record). They are exactly tied for 6th place with Portland where they travel to play this Sunday.
LAFC got the scoring started in the 59th minute on a Cristian Arango penalty kick after Austin was whistled for a “hand” ball in the box. It was Arango’s fifth goal in seven games with LAFC and his fourth straight game finding the back of the net.
Austin tied the match at one apiece in the 67th minute on a goal from Diego Fagundez, but a shorthanded LAFC was able to pull out the road win when Musovski found the back of the net off a great pass from José Cifuentes that came with just under (10) minutes remaining in the match.
