[Dodger Stadium, 10-3-19]—The National League Division Series (NLDS) Playoff Series got underway at Dodger Stadium in a huge and expected win for the home team. Before 53,095 delirious fans, awash in a sea of various Dodger Blue wardrobes and accessories, they got what they paid for— some big bats playing long-ball against the dazed Washington Nationals. The Final scoreboard showed a (6-0) shut-out by the Dodgers’ amped up pitching staff, led by starting right-hand pitcher, #21 Walker Buehler, who pitched (6) complete innings of scoreless ball, with these impressive stats added to his credit…1 hit, 8 Ks, and only 3 walks. The Dave Roberts‘ re-vitalized bullpen for this opening game was represented by Adam Kolarek, Kenta Maeda, and Joe Kelly, who limited the Nationals to just one hit over the final 3 stanzas.
Add to this scenario, the timely hitting of veterans Max Muncy, (2-3/3 RBIs), Cody Bellinger, Chris Tylor, Justin Turner, Joc Pederson (HR), Rookie, Gavin Lux (HR) and the great defense that contributed one double play and committed no errors, and there you have all of the ingredients for Win #1 in this “Best of 5” series.
