(East Los Angeles, CA) At the start time of 5:00 PM on a Sunday afternoon Match-Day, the Banc of California pitch was looking like a freshly groomed and nicely brushed green billiard table from my perspective high up in the press box. The Angel City Football Club’s (ACFC) home field, co-shared with the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), was ready to host the imminent 90 minute turf war and scrapping usage from the Chicago Red Stars, the visiting team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) regular season match for 8/14/22.
The Red Stars came into its Match 15 contest with a (6-3-5) record worth (23) points, while ACFC came in with (5-5-3) overall record valued at (18). The Red Stars were currently in 6th position coming into the match and the ACFC was in 7th spot.

-Match Summary-
[1st Half]: ACFC dominated the offense with at least a ( 2-1) margin in attempts and shots on goal. On the other hand, th Red Stars appeared to struggle with the swarming and pressing defense shown by the ACFC. The Red Stars posted stat for shots on goal was well below that of the home team. Nonetheless, the 17,000 fans in attendance were extremely happy to be watching the NWSL’s action coming from these two “big-city” franchises.
[Halftime Score]: ACFC 0 Chicago Red Stars 0
[2nd Half]: At the (47:00) minute mark, the crowd was electrified by a great crosser that came from the right winger, Claire Emslie to the direct front porch of the Red Stars goal, finding #9/Savannah McCaskill, who then blasted it in for the first and eventual match-winning point. Midfielder McCaskill now has a season total of (5). Contrary to several previous home matches where ACFC let their leads slip away, resulting in draws, the team pulled itself together and played even tighter and “clutch” defense to secure the hard-earned victory.
