(East Los Angeles, CA) December 31, 2021 [Special Message From The Editor]: As we close this 2021 Calendar year after a very different, but unique Christmas Holiday Season, we take just this one last time to look back and reflect on the positive accomplishments we have all personally experienced. And of course, it was also a time to think briefly about the not-so-positive things that affected each of us, and then realizing it was time to move on.

Most important on the difficult list of coping were both COVIDs, (Delta & Omicron), and the fear of surviving them in a serious pandemic. They were, and are, the biggest villains in our current times and our lives. But, in a highly beneficial strategic move, the vaccines arrived to help us survive them in a less stressful way. That was our daily reality check in life this past year. Of course there were other issues in our nation, but let’s now focus on our world of sports as experienced and covered by our Production Team.
[A Brief Look Back]: We made new strides in gaining media credentials to cover several of our favorite local pro teams, as well as covering nearly a full season of the Roosevelt Rough Riders football team, despite the COVID protocols that are still in effect for this L.A. Unified School District (LAUSD) school year of 2021-2022. Included in that past season, was the biggest event of the year for our Production Team, the ten year drought-breaking “East L.A. Classic” victory by the Roosevelt Rough Riders over their fierce, and longtime rival, the Garfield Bulldogs.
[Other 2021 Highlights]: We started our 30th Anniversary celebratory year of existence with our Free Raffle Give-Aways and look to conclude that year with more to come as we approach the ending cycle in March of 2022. We also covered our current WBA Boxing Champion from East L.A., Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada, in her minimum-weight title fight at Banc of California Stadium in July, and her first successful title defense bout earlier his month in San Antonio.
[The Vision Ahead]: In store for our production calendar in 2022, we are planning to provide more coverage of our Professional teams..Dodgers, Rams, Clippers, LAFC, Sparks, and the new National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team, Angel City at their home field, The Banc of California Stadium. On our list of other pro teams we’re applying to cover are the Lakers, Kings, Chargers, and L.A. Galaxy.
The high school programming on our radar screen as the LAUSD and CIF/Southern Section schools continue to re-adjust to the ongoing COVID-Omicron variant, will be the Boys high school basketball game in February, Garfield vs. Roosevelt, followed by the CIF/L.A. City Section’s (LACS) Boys & Girls playoffs.
We also initiated a “Rising Star/Spotlight On“ feature and have plans to continue with it. We hope to continue covering UCLA Men’s Basketball and UCLA Women’s Softball.
Lastly, we are also looking forward to the return of our “In-Studio” productions in which we will be interviewing, on all competitive levels, a variety of team Coaches, Players, and Directors of local sports and recreation programs that are impactful and conducted in the City/County areas of our communities.
As I’ve said, it was another busy and COVID-impacted year, but yet a highly productive one for us at East L.A. Sports Scene Productions and eastlasportsscene.com. We take this special moment in time to sincerely thank each of you for your loyal and faithful support of our efforts and will continue to serve you to the best of our abilities.
